Psalm 116

Last night Scott and I decided we were going to start reading through 116-122 this week. Last night I began with Psalm 116 Psalm 116. It was amazing, it talks about 'calling on the name of the LORD'. It teaches that the LORD turns his ear to us, he help us overcome trouble and sorrow, he protects us, when we are in great need he saves and he delivers our souls from death. We are to offer him thanks and fulfill our vows to him. The great characteristics of our God are plain to see in this passage, his graciousness, his righteousness, his compassion and his goodness.

Why God? Mission

On Sunday I had a meeting with my mission team about the mission we are having in Annandale on 3rd-11th December. We are running many different events during the week, a Jewellery Night, Saffron vs God, God in the Pub, a Narnia Kids Club and many other cool exciting things for all ages. People will hear a short gospel message at each of these events and then be invited to join Introducing God in Jan. It was so exciting to gather together and finalise plans for our events and to also bring all these events before God. It is going to be a crazy week but very exciting, this is my second time on a mission so this year I know a bit more about what to expect. God has grown me so much in the last 18 months so I pray that I might take all he has taught me into this mission. All of this can only happen because our Lord and heavenly father is a sovereign God, in and of ourselves this planning and organising would be futile but our mighty God can do immeasurably more than we could ever imagine and I pray that he does this particularly during our mission week.

Engagement

Well, its finally happened I am getting married. WOOHOO

Scott and I got engaged on Saturday 22nd October 2005.

I thought for all of you who haven't heard the story I would explain the events of the evening…

Soooo.... I knew we were going out on a surprise evening for what I thought was our two year anniversary (which isn't actually until next month, I later discovered) BUT I had no idea where we were going or what was going to happen. That’s the funny thing about surprises - you don't know anything!

Scott picked me up at 4pm, we drove into the city, parked the car, went to Starbucks (my favourite) and had a hazelnut latte and a muffin. Here, Scott gave me a card with details of what we were to do next. This Harbour Bridge Climb, Woohoo. I was nervous but excited.

So just over an hour later we were in our attractive suits ready to climb The Bridge. It was night time so the city looked fab. After about three hours we had finished the climb, gotten changed and were in the car heading to our next location… another surprise.

We pulled up to Blue's Point (for those of you in England who don't know what Blue's Point is, it over looks the Harbour, you have fab views of the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and city). So we got out of the car and down near the water I could see blankets with candles around it, champagne, strawberries, cheese, ham, crackers and two bottles of beer (stella - yum). I knew at this point that Evan and Nicky Batten were definitely involved and had assisted Scott in this covert operation.

So we sat down, Scott read a verse from the Bible; 1 Corinthians 1:4-9, played the most beautiful song called 'Bless the Broken Road' AND THEN he got down on one knee and told me he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and would I marry him. All the time I was saying 'Oh my goodness, oh my gosh, oh my goodness, oh my gosh'.

Little did I know that Channel Ten reporter Evan Batten and his accomplice, better known as his wife Nicky, were taking pictures of the whole thing.

So my answer 'I will, but I'm scared' means that we are now engaged and getting married.

We told the folks and a little while later Evan and Nix came out to share and congratulate us and to take some more paparazzi shots. The four of us prayed together and had a glass of champagne which was really lovely, a few more phone calls were made and then that was the end of a lovely night.

THE END.
