The Best Team Lost

Although I want England to win the World Cup, I would still love to see Australia go far and especially get through to the next round.
I watched the game this morning at 5am and must say that they were the better team, "the better team" you might ask as they didn't win.
Yes I thought they played the better football by far BUT when it comes to finishing off and putting the ball in the net they need to do much better.
They only need a draw against Croatia to get through to the next round BUT lets hope they win.....

Come on Aussies!

I didn't get a chance to watch it as I started work at 7am and the thought of not having enough sleep didn't really thrill me greatly. Have watched some of the highlights. In many ways "football" is a game of luck, Brazil had the lucn and we didn't. Still not sure about AB praying for us to win at church last night ... hmmm. Any thoughts?

Hey Kymmy, I think football can certainly depend on the day and a little bit of luck but it is also about consistency too. You can have some luck but that won't get you through each time. I thought AB should have prayer for England to win :)

No really - I think that God wants us to pray to him as little children and he likes to hear our prayers no matter how big or small. I think as we pray it should always be "your will be done" but I think its cool to pray for a car park or to pray for a team to win. Anyone else?

Thought AB praying about the Socceroos was spot on. We'd love to see it happen, but he put it in context - the sermon he was about to preach was far more significant in the whole scheme of things. A nice touch.

Problem I had was that everyone laughed .. particularly when he prayed that we'd go on to win the whole thing. Does that mean we doubt the idea of praying about something so "trivial."
Realise that no one else might look at this thread again for a while now. Are we praying for a win against Croatia? ;)

I don't think it means we doubt Kymmy, it was just funny how Andrew just brought it up. I was laughing more as I thought it was funny they were praying for Aussie. What about England.

I also think that we need to take God seriously and believe that even the little things we pray for God works through. So yep lets pray that they beat Croatia.

Go the Aussies.

We drew with Sweden, now we play Ecuador in the next round. Its win or die now....
